A Few Grapes Left

$99.00
Original Watercolor on Paper
6"x9.5"

After having my family over for a week, there are a few leftovers. I think these grapes are the most paintable ones so far.

This one was a balancing act between the grapes and the stems. Sort of like "sticks and stones". Grapes are so much like gemstones to me.

  1. Hi Michele! I'm going to have to buy some grapes to paint. I just received my "light" from Daniel Smith today. I had to look at it, but was told I couldn't have it until Sunday. It's my birthday gift. As you can tell, I'm excited about using it! I'm still waiting for the extra bulb, baltic blue, and butterfly paints. I do have a table-top easel I bought from Cheap Joe's last winter. I've been reading various books you recommended. Your grapes have lovely highlights, blended color, and I especially like the way you've painted the stems...very delicate! I keep hammering into my brain that it is the "essence" of something I really want to paint and the light hitting and surrounding it. I just keep reminding myself I'm not going for the look of a photograph. There is a lot of information to take in. Viewing your work online is a benefit! Thankyou! Smiles, Cindy

  2. Hi, Cindy,

Fantastic! You are doing everything right to put yourself in the best possible position for success in your painting endeavors. It's amazing what the right lighting, equipment, study and inspirational examples will do. They give you the extra encouragement you need to work your way through the necessary studio time for progress.

Thank you for your kind words regarding my work. This one was a balancing act between the grapes and the stems. Sort of like "sticks and stones". Grapes are so much like gemstones to me.

    Smiles,
    Michele
