Watercolor classes registering now

My studio is transitioning from sketching pit stop into a place to plan my new fall watercolor classes! I already have some new, fun lessons in store for watercolor painters of all levels. See the Fall 2015 schedule on my website (link in right hand column). Registration is now open.

We still have some warm, sunny days ahead before colder, rainy weather sets in. I intend to take full advantage of all those outdoor sketching opportunities while I can. The lessons on color, atmosphere, and composition that I learn out there no doubt will find their way into the new lessons that I share with you this fall.

Here are a couple of spots to view examples of my watercolors and sketches: My Flickr photo stream with high resolution images from my paintings and sketches.
My Instagram account where I post new sketches almost every day.

Class today

The Stanwood gang at Heritage Park
What a lovely day! Our last class, outdoors, sunny weather, and a potluck picnic afterwards! We should do this again!

The entire flock

I finally have an opportunity to post all the other photos from a week of classes I taught last term when we got to sketch live baby chicks.
Harriet and Abigail seemed to enjoy their first art modeling gig.
I knew we wouldn't have such a privilege of live models  in every class, but I think the ones my students did from photos turned out very well indeed!
What's even more impressive is that all these are 5 minute sketches.
I know because I timed them.
Congratulations, everyone, on sketches you can crow about!

Now if this doesn't inspire the rest of you Sunday Painters, I guess it's time to go bowling.

ATC swap on Friday at KAC

First, I asked everyone to select a card for anonymous trade. We placed them all face down and picked one at random. Then I told everyone that they could trade any extras that they brought with their friends. After that, everything is kind of a blur. Anyway, here is an idea of the wonderful art that goes on in our Intermediate class on Fridays, just for fun!
Painted at home and in class. Wonderful!
Then people brought out ATCs from their personal cache.
More cards from personal trades.

Watercolor classes start Thursday in Stanwood

I want to thank A Guilded Gallery for this very nice write-up in their recent newsletter. Hard to believe, but classes in Stanwood start this week already. It feels like summer today, but I guess fall is here!
Watercolors with Michele Cooper

Michele Cooper has been teaching local artists for over 25 years, and leaves a trail of work anyone would be proud of. She is a  signature member of the Northwest Watercolor Society, and her paintings are widely recognized

Michele teaches us to see shapes instead of things. Starting with contour drawings and value studies,
she stresses that we should "paint
what we see, not what we think we already know."

5 Thursday classes; Sept 18, 25, October 2, 9, 16th,
and again on
Oct. 23, 30, Nov. 6, 13, and 20th.
Price for 5 class session is $150
