I am pleased to know that my work is appreciated.<BR/><BR/>In answer to your questions about the background: Yes, I painted the background after the main subject. It's a combination of pale, wet on wet washes, allowed to dry and superimposed with some direct strokes that have been blended out and then dropping in a few shadowy "shmears" while still wet.
